This notice explains how Hamza Shaf, trading as Hamza Shaf Films (“I”, “me”), collects and uses your personal information when you use hamzashaf.com or get in touch about a project. I am the “controller” of that information under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Cookies and similar technologies
This site does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not store anything on your device. If I add analytics or other cookies in future, I will update this notice and ask for your consent where the law requires it.
Who I share information with
I only share information with services that help me run the site and my business, and only as far as needed:
- Web3Forms, which receives enquiry form submissions and passes them to my email.
- Google Fonts, from which this site loads its typefaces. Your browser contacts Google’s servers to do this, which means your IP address is shared with Google.
- YouTube (Google), if you play one of the films on the My Work page. The YouTube player only loads when you press play, and uses YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode.
- WhatsApp and Instagram (Meta), if you choose to message me there. Their own privacy policies apply.
- My website host and email provider, who store the site and my emails.
- Accountants, banks and payment providers, where needed to invoice you and keep financial records.
I do not sell your information. Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that is the case, your information is protected by the safeguards they are required to have under UK data protection law, such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision.
How long I keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Client records, contracts and invoices: 6 years after the work ends, as required for tax and accounting.
- Server logs: kept by my host for a short period, usually no more than 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask me to give you a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or stop how I use it, or send it to you in a portable format. You can also object to processing based on my legitimate interests. To exercise any right, contact me using the details above. I will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how I handle your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. I would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
People who appear in my films
If you appear in footage I film for a client, that footage is handled under the written agreement for that project and my client’s own privacy information. If you have a question about being filmed, contact me and I will help.
